About Me

I am the connection. I am the bridge between generations, across cultures and through experiences.  I am the promise made true, whispered by the Land of Opportunity a lifetime ago to my parents.  I am the value of sacrifice and hard work, a first-generation college student.  I am the success that brown faces like my own did not have for an example.  I am a mother who not only celebrated the beautiful births of my children, but learned how to mother in intensive care units, felt the sorrow of losing a son and experienced the multi-faceted struggle of navigating special needs resources.  I am the one who helped students of color navigate their way at predominantly white institutions, enhanced deeper understanding about LGBTQ communities, and supported colleagues during the Baltimore Uprising.  And while my work in diversity, equity and inclusion has spanned over 20 years, I am the result of lifetimes of experiences.  I am a tribute to those who brought me here.  I am a testament to what I've made myself today.  I am the connection to our future community.
