Bio

Dr. Jennifer Jimenez Maraña is one of today's foremost authorities in diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is a nationally recognized expert in fields ranging from higher education to healthcare, and her insight and engineering of strategic initiatives has been incorporated at some of our country's most prestigious organizations.  Maraña Consulting incorporates her leadership and training into a cohesive package that includes diversity training, consultation, and keynote addresses.

Dr. Maraña's research on women of color chief diversity officers connected the experiences of groundbreaking professionals around the country and furthered this academic study. Other areas of study include the experiences of Asian Americans, first-generation college students, self-efficacy, and intersectionality.  Despite an educational pedigree that started with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master’s degree from the acclaimed Counseling and Personnel Services program at the University of Maryland, College Park, and a PhD in Education from Claremont Graduate University, Dr. Maraña's most proud accomplishment has been raising three children, poignantly blessed with her oldest having spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy.

This profound experience deepens her empathy of others' diverse lived journeys, and humanizes her commitment to teach and train others to better connect across different backgrounds.
